Daniel Castro is a Colombian born music composer. He is passionate about of the sounds of different cultures and eras, as well as the emotional undertones that music provides both in the collective and the individual shaping of identity. Although Daniel considers himself most proficient with guitar, he has explored varied musical instruments throughout his life and delved into seemingly disparate music genres in order to find unifying elements that can be the base of a pervasive musical vocabulary.
It is Daniel’s passion to collaborate in different creative projects. He specializes in media composition, music production, mixing and guitar playing; and he has created original music for a number of independent films, art installations, events and music ensembles.
Daniel studied music composition in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and San Diego State University under the direction of Joseph Waters, Jon Kull, Mario Gonzales, Chris Warren and Mauricio Cristacho.
He lives and works in San Diego, CA and Bogotá, Colombia.
